S.P.I.K.E. (Special People Inspire Kures Everywhere) for Life is a charity event committed to bringing public awareness of the increasing number of young people affected by cancer and raising funds for prevention and prompt treatment of this disease.
The Spike for Life Volleyball Tournament is co-ed and is structured in such a way that anyone can play, whether they are beginners or experts for a modest entry fee of $150 per team of 6 to 8 players, along with each player obtaining pledges.
Spike for Life was founded in 2006 by a young woman diagnosed with lung cancer. She came together with close friends and they created Spike for Life Volleyball Tournament. The 1st tournament was on March 31st, 2007 and raised more than $28,000 for the ORCF. Each year, the tournament is dedicated to someone who has lost their life to cancer.
